011: How to Publish Your Book to 99% of Book Outlets
In 2020, the House Judiciary Committee found that Amazon controlled more than 50 percent of the overall (online and offline) print book market and more than 80 percent of the e-book market.
Believe it or not, KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) is *not* the only game in town for publishing your work. Something that I use when I do not want my book exclusively on Amazon, is a platform called Draft2Digital.com. So far, itβs the best platform Iβve found to push your book out to the vast majority of outlets. There is one exception to this, Google Play Books.
Why use an aggregator?
1. Control over extended markets such as libraries for physical print books and small bookstores. Also library ebook outlets like OverDrive and other electronic book publishing outlets such as Barnes and Noble.
2. Pricing freedom.
3. Centralized dashboard for all the distribution outlets and their statuses.
What is the aggregator doing?
1. Allows a centralized dashboard to upload your manuscript and cover art once, then publish to many outlets.
2. Most have a wizard interface to
How to get started.
1. Set up an account.
2. Set up your payment options and other financial information. Remember episode 002? Time to become busy ready!
3. Check out the promotions available on the platform and Smashwords.
4. Use the wizard to upload your manuscript, cover art and other meta information.
I really encourage you to try Drafted Digital for getting your book out to as many of your fans as possible.
